Several project ideas related to the field of Tourism from the National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv

1. Name of your university/institution/industry or company interested in participating in Erasmus Plus project:

O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv (former National Academy of Municipal Economy in Kharkiv)

2. Main field of activities of your institution:

O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv provides training in municipal management and economics, construction, transport, electricity, water and gas supply; ecology of cities, tourism and hotel business, improvement of ecological cleanliness of cities and towns.

3. Information about the intended project:

We are looking for partnership in projects targeted at:

a) Implementing active and interactive forms into the curriculum in Excursion services and providing tourist information services based on best practices of the EU;

b) Developing curricula for new specialization: Master of Design of Architectural Lighting Systems;

c) Implementing Management Reform and standardization of legislation and improving higher education in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups in the context of adjustment to EU standards:

d)  Improving higher education in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups in the context of adjustment to EU standards;

e) Obtaining Dual MA in Lighting and power Engineering

f)  Apart from this proposal we are ready to be a consortium member in other projects, related to the primary field of activities of our university

4. Project proposal/description:

Project Title:: Implementing active and interactive forms into the curriculum in Excursion services and providing tourist information services based on best practices of the EU.

Goals and objectives of the project:

  • To initialize the reform process and restructuring forms of training and curricula for Tourism through the introduction of practical component based on active and interactive forms of education in the curricula
  • To agree standards of Ukraine and the EU and strengthen the role of the practical component in the field of Excursion service and provide tourist information services with the creation of virtual laboratories to develop tourism products
  • To facilitate expansion and intensification of educational cooperation between higher education institutions of Ukraine and the EU in the field of Tourism

Project activities:

  • Education project participants and lecturers’ training to increase practical component of the tour services organizing and providing, to organize and provide recreational services and the provision of tourist information services.
  • Development of curricula, undergraduate and graduate programs and a set of teaching and methodological materials in Tourism, including training.
  • Creating logistics to enhance practical component by creation and subsequent use of practical teaching tour offices and tourist information centers.
  • Creating a virtual laboratory for the development of tourism products with the necessary technical infrastructure.
  • Dissemination of project results among specialists in tourism by attracting other higher education institutions and stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Project Title: Management Reform, standardization of legislation and improvement of higher education in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups in the context of adjustment to EU standards

Goals and objectives of the project:

  • Supporting the establishment of legal and administrative mechanisms to promote tourism for socially disadvantaged groups
  • Establishing standards in tourism to meet the needs of socially disadvantaged groups, especially physically challenged
  • Meeting the recreational needs of socially disadvantaged groups
  • Involving physically challenged people to work in tourism
  • Supporting reforming and restructuring of Ukrainian higher educational institutions that train in the sphere of tourism through the introduction of the social component to the curricula and supporting their integration into the common European educational space
  • Expanding and intensifying educational cooperation in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups from EU countries
  • Using the know-how and experience of higher education institutions to increase the contribution to the development of lifelong learning in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups
  • Agreeing standards of Ukraine and the EU to promote tourism for socially disadvantaged groups

Project activities:

  • Development of legislation by ministries, local governments and universities to promote tourism for socially disadvantaged groups using the EU experience.
  • Education project participants and lecturers’ training on current tourism topics for socially disadvantaged groups.
  • Development of curricula, undergraduate and graduate programs and a set of teaching and methodological materials, including training.
  • Creating an international network of laboratories to create virtual tourism for physically challenged people providing the necessary technical infrastructure.
  • Development and implementation of distance learning courses at University in Tourism for socially disadvantaged groups and training courses for tourism workers.
  • Involving physically challenged people to work in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups in virtual laboratories.
  • Dissemination of project results and further development of a network of distance learning courses in Tourism for socially disadvantaged people, training of tourism workers by attracting other universities and interested tourist areas entities.

 Project Title: Improvement of higher education in Tourism for Socially Disadvantaged Groups in the context of adjustment to EU standards

Goals and objectives of the project:

  • Initializing the reform and restructuring Ukrainian higher educational institutions that train in the sphere of tourism through the introduction of the social component to the curricula and supporting their integration into the common European educational space
  • Expanding and intensifying educational cooperation in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups from EU countries
  • Using the know-how and experience of higher education institutions to increase the contribution to the development of lifelong learning in tourism for socially disadvantaged groups
