Bologna Conference in November 2010

Kyiv 25-27, November 2010. 5th International Scientific – practical conference “Higher Education in Ukraine in the framework of integration with the European Education Area”. The International conference was a high profile event delivered by the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and National Tempus-office in Ukraine.

In the framework of EU Project the EU expert Vera Stastna, Chief Advisor for European Affairs, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic was invited to the event to exchange the practical experience of Bologna process implementation in the EU Universities.

During the plenary session Vera Stastna presented an overview of the Bologna principles implementation and Prospects for Bologna process in Europe – “Qualifications frameworks, learning outcomes, ECTS credits and the Higher Education Area in the next decade”.

Later Discussion session “European Education Area: major issues and prospects for Ukraine” gathered about 50 participants. Among other speakers Vera Stastna presented Czech experience on Bologna instrument implementation and answered many questions.

During three days conference activities convened over 600 participants including high representation of vice-rectors, deans, researchers, academics, students from Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine, Russia and Turkey. Articles by participants were presented within International conference and published in 7 volumes of research materials (on average each book consisted of 500 pages,). Event was promoted by journalists “Window in Europe”, 5 Channel TV, “Pedagogical Newspaper”. Vera Stastna was interviewed by mass-media.

Round Table of Higher Education Reform Experts, Kyiv 26/11/2010

The Round Table was initiated by the National Tempus-office in Ukraine and National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts in cooperation with National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the Delegation of European Union in Ukraine in the framework of International conference on Bologna process. During the Round table EU Expert Vera Stastna shared the experience of Charles University in Prague in terms of Bologna principles implementation and described the situation regarding the National Qualification Framework development, DS and ECTS implementation – “Application of ECTS and National Qualifications Framework: European (Czech) experience”.

The key challenges and national specifics were actively discussed by the National team of Higher Education Reform Experts in Ukraine.
